Oliver's Facebook page →
We’re doing more and more of our posting about the boy to Oliver’s Facebook page, instead of this site. At some point, I’ll backfill his “timeline” with the posts that were here.
In the meantime, if you’re interested in premium O-Zone pics & videos, check out https://www.facebook.com/LittleBain

Smoothing →
Oliver likes to have his stomach rubbed after he’s placed in his crib. It’s adorable. He’ll sometimes even beg for a tummy rub by lifting his shirt and making a pleading look (captured here).
Lisa calls this “smoothing”, and the name makes total sense, but I’d never heard it before. When she insisted this was common use, we turned to the internet to settle the...

On a rainy Sunday morning, I sent Lisa off to get some well deserved pampering, and thought I’d get some QT with the boy.
We’d played with every toy we owned, but weren’t used to being stuck inside. We were running out of ideas.
I thought we’d explore the basement (parking garage), but when we got down there, Oliver became fascinated with the shopping carts we keep...

Words Oliver's "said" in the last week
Oliver’s begun experimenting with communication. Here’s the list of what he’s said, and in most cases, you’d have to be paying close attention to translate Oliver-to-English:
All done (sign language)
I’m hungry (sign language)
More (spoken and sign language)
Elmo
Bubbles
Football
Touchdown
Doggy
Santa
Uh oh
Dada
Sticky
NO! (his favorite)
Te amo...

You have the right to remain giggly!
Oliver figured out how to work the squirt bottle we use to “discipline” the cat, and, MAN, does he like soaking people.

Caught a little video of Oliver out for a stroll. He hasn’t really had the experience of running around in a field since he learned to walk, so I guess this is a first.
Turn up the volume to enjoy it with music, if you can. No surprise ending with this one, just some fun footage of the O-Zone ambling.

Oliver’s now able to do what the Patriots weren’t last weekend in Pittsburg: make people smile about touchdowns.

Some thoughts on Oliver's walking
He’s consistently able to fall in such a way that his bum lands where his feet were. It’d be really impressive if he were doing it on purpose.
A little like the Flintstone mobile, he’ll occasionally take a few “steps” before he actually starts moving forward.
He generally doesn’t move forward without a little leaning, like someone on a Segway.

During “push time” at Gymboree, Oliver put up a strong first showing, but when it was time to switch to the other side of the “log”, the O-Zone lost interest and went off on an ill-fated journey of self-discovery.

For those who are interested to see what graham cracker scavenger hunt looks like, I caught some highlights on tape yesterday.
Oliver’s a trooper, and logs some serious mileage when graham crackers are on the line, but I only like to play when the park is fairly empty, b/c I think other parents are gonna judge me for letting the O-Zone’s food hit the ground or playground steps.

Graham cracker scavenger hunter
We came up with a new game at Ronconada Park this morning: graham cracker scavenger hunter.
I go 20-30 feet from where the O-Zone’s standing, and hold up a graham cracker. He unsteadily walks to me as quickly as he can, because these crackers are too delicious to pass up. As he gets to within 5 feet, I put the cracker somewhere on the jungle gym that he can get to with a little work, then...
